The Renaissance Network
Over the past few weeks, a number of people have come together to discuss their interest in seeing some progress on the city's Community Priority Projects, including:
At the moment, our main concern is the Large Venue Entertainment Centre (LVEC). There is concern that recently, while a supportive majority sits back silently, the public discussion has been carried by naysayers, alarmists and self-appointed experts with their own agendas. Objections raised in good faith can help improve a project. In this case there are some issues to be dealt with, and also some distortions of the issues.
Meanwhile our own council and volunteer community leaders are increasingly coming under unbalanced criticism, simply for doing what we've asked them to do -- provide leadership in helping Kingston become all that it can be!
Together we have started to form an informal electronic network of ordinary community leaders and citizens, which we've been calling the Renaissance Network (reflecting the rebirth of a new era or renaissance in Kingston). It is a group that is prepared to stand up for our city's Community Priority Projects in a thoughtful, problem-solving way. We'll be sharing information, attending meetings, sometimes writing letters, and discussing the issues as opinion leaders in our own circles of influence.
Connect with the Network
If you are of the same mind and would like to stay in the loop, we would be glad to add you to our growing list of participants and keep you up to date on efforts to move our community forward.
Please feel free to send us your views and comments and let us know whether you would be interested in being part of the Renaissance Network. To send us material that would contribute to the discussion and understanding of these issues, please submit them to RN@infoKingston.net
Thanks for giving this your time and attention -- we're at an important turning point in the future of our community.
